GREAT RECEPTION OF EARTH HOUR IN BOLIVIA !!!

The blackout was generalized where the public acts occurred, and in some departments it was extended to whole neighbourhoods. Likewise, in much of the – provincial – medium cities, local activities joined the populations in an act of consciousness for the protection and caring of our planet.

In Santa Cruz department, more than 1000 person attended the act programmed at the Plaza Central of this city. During the event, authorities of the Departmental Government, the Municipality, WWF, groupements, private and public entities, could manifest themselves with allusive speeches to commemorate this date. There also was shows from musical bands, dancing groups, projection of videos regarding environmental themes, and a symbolic walk around the Square, where the mayor part of the audience followed the mentionned authorities and took a route to invite people to join the event.

During the “symbolic blackout” people lighted little candles and maintained an atmosphere of reflection, there was even a minute of silence for the victims of natural disasters, especially in Bolivia and Japan.

In other cities of Santa Cruz, such as Puerto Quijarro, local activities counted with the support of the population in general.
In Quijarro, the local team of volunteers for WWF was in the street to inform and motivate so that people can change its habits and use long-life, low consumption light bulbs. Meanwhile, the team was inviting the population to the act prepared for Earth Hour.

These activities followed pre-planned programs that motivated the participation of particular groups such as the local battalion of the army and youth in general.
Once more Earth Hour surprises us, just as the human capacity to gather for the most appropriate and best causes.
